iPhone X vs older iPhone models

Evolution Of Design: iPhone X / Edition Vs Older iPhone Models [Screen-To-Body Ratio & Size Comparison]

Here’s iPhone X / Edition Vs iPhone 7 Vs iPhone 7 Plus Vs 6s Vs original 2G Vs all previous-gen iPhone models comparison in screen-to-body ratio and body size.
Apple’s 2017 flagship iPhone, expected to be called as iPhone X or iPhone Edition depending on which rumor you believe in – but we will refer to it as iPhone X here for simplicity sake – is now confirmed to be announcing during a media event at the Steve Jobs Theater, located within Apple Park in Cupertino, on September 12 2017. The level of excitement has never been higher. Around this time of year, everyone tends to get a little giddy because they know that a new iPhone or two will be announced soon enough, but this year is different.
This year, Apple will not only be announcing a new 4.7-inch iPhone (iPhone 8) alongside a larger 5.5-inch Plus (iPhone 8 Plus) variant, but also the iPhone X to mark the 10th anniversary since the first iPhone release. This phone will feature an all new design with an edge-to-edge 5.8-inch OLED display that will likely have highest screen-to-body ratio on market thanks to a small ‘notch’ at the top which will house all the sensors with no chins or bezels on top or bottom, or the sides of the phone for that matter. It’s all very exciting indeed, and with this being the tenth anniversary of the original iPhone, we found ourselves wondering how this iPhone X stacks up against the previous-gen iPhone models. Just how different is that iPhone X’s body and screen? Well, as it turns out, it’s very different. We were able to get our hands on not one but two dummy/mockups of iPhone X handsets – both in Black and Blush Gold colors – which are based on leaked blueprints of the device along with every real previous-gen iPhone that represents a change in chassis as well as display body and screen size since the first iPhone debuted way back in 2007. We wanted to see what would happen when you put an original iPhone beside an iPhone X side-by-side, for example, and as it turns out, it looks amazing. If you ever wanted to see how far we have come in ten years, then this is it.
There are of course other milestones that have cropped up in the past ten years, with the iPhone 4’s all-glass design being a high point, of that there is no doubt. The iPhone 5 was a gorgeous phone too, and then we had the first of the larger displays with the release of the all-aluminum body iPhone 6, yet even that looks significantly dated beside this all-glass iPhone X. 2018 looks like it could be the best year yet for big smartphone releases, and we already have the Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8 and countless other big releases under our belts.
The iPhone X will perhaps be the biggest yet, but it is when we compare it with the iPhones that came before it that we truly see how far we have come. We can’t wait to see what the 20th anniversary iPhone looks like in another ten years!
While we wait for that to roll around, enjoy our gallery of side-by-side comparison images and reminisce.
